On July 17, the Almaty Air Initiative (AAI) Foundation presented the results of its first year of work and shared plans for upcoming projects with journalists and bloggers.
The welcoming “Kultura” bar kindly provided the venue for the event, held in a new and creative format for the foundation — a press mocktail.
Guests — journalists and bloggers — not only learned about AAI’s projects in detail but also had the opportunity to socialize informally with the foundation’s team while enjoying snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
Executive Director Zhuldyz Saulebekova presented an overview of AAI’s activities.
Over 2024–2025, the foundation conducted key research and initiatives aimed at the systematic study of air pollution and practical ways to reduce it.
In addition, AAI launched several creative awareness campaigns designed to raise public understanding of air-quality issues.
A highlight of the presentation was the introduction of AAI’s new air-quality monitoring dashboard.
Developed by the foundation’s team, the dashboard enables real-time tracking of air cleanliness, showing pollution dynamics across the city and by districts over various time intervals.
For data enthusiasts, a dedicated “Analytics” section provides in-depth access to pollution data.
Currently, the dashboard visualizes information from 50 installed sensors in the city and focuses on PM2.5 concentration.
In the future, the foundation plans to expand the sensor network and include additional pollutant measurements.
The event concluded with a symbolic presentation — the debut of the non-alcoholic cocktail “Aua” (Air), specially crafted by Kultura Bar in partnership with Almaty Air Initiative.
The mocktail represents the spirit of Almaty’s air — combining a rich, sweet apple flavor with a distinct smoky aftertaste, symbolizing both the beauty and the challenge of the city’s atmosphere.
